Emma Moorman
Artist Based in Ft. Worth, Texas
Emma Moorman is a multidisciplinary sculptor originally from Weatherford, TX whose practice explores storytelling and the ways objects act as catalysts for memory. She received her BS in Visualization from Texas A&M University and her MFA in Sculpture from The University of Oklahoma, helping her build a practice that combines both traditional and digital processes.
Her work is rooted in research surrounding episodic memory, which refers to the formation of long-term memories connected to the who, what, and where of a moment. These memories shape not only our understanding of identity, but also our relationships to other people, to objects, and to the lands we inhabit. Through sculpture and installation, Moorman investigates memory as something unstable and constantly reshaped through the act of re-remembering.
